Finance & Investing
It's silly to have as one's sole object in life just making money, accumulating wealth. I work because I enjoy what I'm doing, and the fact that I make money at it -- big money -- is a fine-and-dandy side fact. Money gives me just one big thing that's really important, and that's the freedom of not having to worry about money. I'm concerned about values -- moral, ethical, human values -- my own, other people's, the country's, the world's values. Having money now gives me the freedom to worry about the things that really matter.

Credit Scoring:
creditscoring.com
According to a Nolo.com article titled "Credit Scoring,"
the following are factors that affect a credit score and their approximate weight.
- Payment history (35%).
Factors causing a negative impact: late payments, an account written off and/or sent to collection,
or declaring bankruptcy. The more recent the problem, the more it affects the score.
(A current 30-day late payment has a more negative effect than a bankruptcy five years ago.)
- Outstanding debt (30%).
The closer the amount owed is to your credit limit,
the more negative the effect on your score.
A low balance on two cards is better than a high balance on one.
- Length of your credit history (15%).
The longer accounts have been open, the better.
- Recent inquiries on your report (10%).
Recent inquiries may negatively affect a credit score.
Promotional inquiries don't affect a credit score.
- Types of credit in use (10%).
Loans from finance companies generally lower a credit score.
FICO says this is most important when there isn't a lot of other
information upon which to base a score.
35% of 850 = 297.5
30% of 850 = 255.0
15% of 850 = 127.5
10% of 850 = 85.0
10% of 850 = 85.0
